Requirements
Please bring a laptop pre-loaded with HEC-RAS Version 6.3. The free software can be download here. Please test the program before arriving, and contact us with any installation issues. We recommend having a mouse with a middle wheel button. You are welcome to bring an external monitor if your laptop screen is small.
No prior experience with HEC-RAS or other modelling software is required – we will be building models from scratch; however, attendees new to HEC-RAS may benefit from viewing Part 1 of our “HEC-RAS Basics” video series prior to attending the workshop. The course content is designed to be challenging to those with prior experience who are just looking to master the new features but not overwhelming for those brand new to HEC-RAS.
Attendees will receive free workshop materials for all new case studies that take advantage of new features in HEC-RAS 6.3. Workshop materials to be completed during the course include basic hydraulic structures, GIS interfacing, and terrain modification within RAS Mapper. Case studies provided for completion after the workshop include bridges, floodways, dam break, direct rainfall/rain on grid, and urban and coastal flooding.
