In preparing for our AI webinars, we decided to ask ChatGPT to facilitate the webinars to save some preparation time. Here are the opening and closing remarks it came up with. The impressive AI-generated responses seem to stack up well against real humans, so should our facilitators be fearing for their jobs? Based on the responses below, the computers assure us there is nothing to worry about…but isn’t that what you’d expect Skynet to say?
Hey ChatGPT...
We asked some of the available LLMs water-related questions. Here is one we had some fun with:
“Hey ChatGPT, explain flood modelling in the style of ___________!”
We filled in the blank with Seinfeld, Seuss, Shakespeare, and the Swedish Chef. Pick a style and try it yourself using OpenAI’s ChatGPT model. Try Tolkien, Trump, or Tarzan; whatever your chosen style, you’re sure to get an amusing answer. Here’s a response using the Lord of the Apes:
Want an accompanying animation? Try OpenAI’s image generator: “Hey DALL-E, draw me Tarzan in a flood!”
Looks like the bot does a decent job impersonating Tarzan. As for the rest, check out the honourable mentions at the bottom of this page, including Yoda talking like a pirate (yes, it can do both at the same time, and rhyme it to boot!) To keep things interesting, you’ll get a different response every time, even if you ask the same question! How about a few more:
How about, “Hey ChatGPT, explain flood modelling, Bible style!”
Or let’s try for something more current:
Can it handle different literary styles? Check!
But can it weave in a story line? For Tolkien fans, Ryan Londeen prompted ChatGPT to write a story about a flood modelling hobbit. [This one actually sounds like the Great Hobbiton Flood, which we modelled in HEC-RAS for a training course in New Zealand a few years ago.] Here’s the ChatGPT version (click to enlarge):
For this one, Ryan asked ChatGPT to explain flood modelling as a sea shanty:
But can it do Star Wars? Absolutely! Yoda is the ultimate trainer, after all!
And finally, just for fun, try this one: “Hey ChatGPT, tell me a joke about a hydrologist!” You’re sure to get some pretty lame jokes, but let’s see if ChatGPT can finish this one:
No joke! In fact, that sounds a lot like our AWS webinars, which bring together a worldwide audience of water professionals for engaging, interactive explorations of industry-relevant topics. But unlike that bar, the AWS webinars are BYOB…that’s bring your own bot!
Cheers!
