HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS Training

Auckland NZ 31 Mar - 3 Apr 2025

In partnership with New Zealand-based Golovin, our annual HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS course in Auckland continues in 2025 with a 4-day series of in-person courses. This intensive, interactive set of workshops uses free hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software:

* Day 1: Learn essential skills to set up and run a HEC-HMS model with a focus on stormwater mitigation
* Day 2: Apply GIS tools, gridded data sets, and other advanced features to generate rainfall-runoff relationships using HEC-HMS
* Day 3: Set up and run basic 1D and 2D hydraulic models in HEC-RAS
* Day 4: Apply terrain modification, culverts & bridges, 3D viewing, and other advanced features using HEC-RAS

Special demo and resources provided:

* What’s coming in HEC-RAS 2025

* What’s new in HEC-RAS 6.7: pipe networks and more!

Requirements

Please bring a laptop pre-loaded with HEC-HMS Version 4.12 and/or HEC-RAS Version 6.7 as applicable. The free software can be download here. Please test the programs before arriving, and contact us with any installation issues. We recommend having a mouse with a middle wheel button. You are welcome to bring an external monitor if your laptop screen is small.

No prior experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS or other modelling software is required – we will be building models from scratch. Workshop material can be varied to suit attendee background levels, and the course content is designed to be challenging to those with prior experience who are just looking to master the new features, but not overwhelming for those brand new to HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.
